Submit an Abstract

30 November 2026 Abstract submission deadline
12 February 2027 Announcement of acceptance to authors

Guidelines for Speakers

  • The submitting author of the abstract must be one of the presenters/speakers.
  • The submitting (= presenting) author does not have to be the first author.
  • There is no limit to how many times an author may be listed as a non-speaking co-author.
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the presenting author(s) to present the work in person at the 31st WONCA Europe Conference 2027 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
  • The submitter acts on behalf of all co-authors and accepts responsibility for the present rules for submission and presentation.
  • All costs associated with presenting, including conference registration, travel and accommodation, are the responsibility of the presenter, except where a WONCA bursary has been awarded.
  • Please ensure that your choice of speakers takes into account the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Note: Only accepted submissions of fully registered presenters can be included in the final conference programme.

Instructions for Abstract Submission

  • Fill in the submitting author's name and e-mail address correctly – these contact details will be used for further correspondence with the author(s).
  • Please indicate the appropriate Conference topic for your submission.
  • Please indicate your preferred Presentation form.
  • Please ensure that all required information and documents are completed and uploaded as requested in the abstract submission system.

Abstract Content

  • Abstracts must be written in English.
  • Presentations are not marketing opportunities for particular products or services, and submissions of this nature will not be considered.
  • Submissions must follow the requirements specified in the online abstract submission system.
  • Submissions should be text only. Do not include diagrams, illustrations, tables or graphics unless specifically permitted in the submission system.
  • All submissions should follow the conference submission template:
    • Title: Make the title of the abstract brief and ensure that it clearly indicates the nature of the abstract proposal or research area. The maximum length of the title is 20 words.
    • Capitalise only the first word of the title and any proper nouns or abbreviations.
    • Do not capitalise every word.
    • Do not use block capitals, except for abbreviations.
    • Do not place a full stop at the end of the title.
    • Names of the authors: Enter all authors in the order in which they should appear in the published abstract and conference programme.
    • Enter institution names in English.
    • Standard abbreviations may be used for common terms. Otherwise, spell out the term in full at first mention and place the abbreviation in parentheses.
    • Do not include product names, company names or promotional content in the abstract.
    • Double-check spelling and grammar. It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure that the submitted text does not contain typographical or grammatical errors.

Methods of Submission

  • All abstracts must be submitted only via the official online abstract submission form.
  • Abstracts sent by e-mail cannot be considered.
  • All correspondence concerning the abstract will be sent to the submitting author’s e-mail address.
  • Authors will receive confirmation of their abstract submission by e-mail. If you do not receive confirmation, please check your spam folder.
  • Submissions will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
  • Please carefully check all information before finalising your submission.
  • The abstract submission form is straightforward and should be easy to complete without special instructions. Explanatory notes will be provided alongside the relevant fields where necessary.

Programme Scheduling

Accepted submissions will be scheduled together with other thematically related submissions whenever possible. By submitting an abstract, presenters agree to be available for the duration of the conference. Any time constraints relating to the presentation date or time should be brought to the attention of the Conference Organiser during the abstract submission process.

Due to the large number of presentations included in the programme, requests to alter allocated time slots cannot be guaranteed and will be considered on a case-by-case basis with respect to their impact on the overall programme and other presenters.

The Conference Organiser reserves the right to change presentation dates and times if necessary. In such cases, every effort will be made to find a suitable alternative presentation slot.

The Conference Organiser will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.
